What is Reader's Theatre?

It is a type of group drama that puts the major emphasis on the literary text. The goal of our "sacred word" Reader's Theatre, is to provide a penetrating gaze into the human experience and to unveil God's redemptive nature through a creative appeal to the (often underdeveloped) imagination of the audience.

The Holy Bible is a storehouse of dramatic stories which can be communicated easily using characters and narrators (combined with a light touch of technical sights and sounds). The Word of God promises that it will not go out void, but will accomplish the purpose for which it has been sent (Isaiah 55:1). God's Word is powerful when spoken with boldness and declared with strength and can be used with fresh innovation in evangelism, discipleship and worship. The more we spotlight the text, the deeper the insights (of illumination and revelation) can flow into the lives of those who watch and take in the Word of Truth.

After nearly twenty years of "waiting upon ministry" in prayer and intercession before the Lord, Yolanda Powell heard a clear call from the Lord to boldly move forth as an equipped servant of God through the transforming power of "the spoken word" and the "Scriptural arts." The call of God was confirmed with spoken encouragement by many witnesses.
